Overview
zeq. is an AI-powered system that leverage Unified Energy Interface to tackles range anxiety & charging management by making the process of planning more automatic while at the same time giving users options to customize the journey further. With simplified route planning, electric cars are positioned as the preferred choice for people for every scenario, overcoming adoption hurdles without the need for substantial charging infrastructure enhancements.

"The jury complimented the team for addressing a real, compelling, and relevant social issue with an ambitious service solution proposed. It was beautifully brought to life, through careful research, which was inclusive and well presented. We loved the documentary style video. We thought it took a serious stance for a neglected group and presented a tangible, physical solution to solve it. This stepped us outside the realm of experiential services. It was one of the most ambitious services, so thank you for presenting a solution with such a huge scope and potential impact."

Current Scenario in India
As of 2023*
The data highlights a significant inadequacy in India’s charging infrastructure, with a particularly uneven distribution across various types of EVs. According to the Times of India, while the country targets 30% EV adoption by 2030, only 5% is projected to come from electric cars, underscoring a critical imbalance that needs to be addressed.

The 3 Key Barriers
We identified three key barriers preventing the transition to four-wheeler EVs: high upfront cost, range anxiety, and lack of infrastructure.
There is a strong pattern rooted in a deep-seated societal assumption that has been preventing people from transitioning to four-wheeler EVs. This assumption stems from the perception that the charging infrastructure is insufficient to be conveniently integrated into their daily lives coupled with fears of range anxiety and prohibitive costs.
Such beliefs, shaped by pre-existing societal norms and long-standing reliance on conventional vehicles, act as a barrier to adopting more sustainable alternatives.

Range Anxiety

Charging Infrastructure

High Upfront Costing
The Problem Loop with Range Anxiety
Expanding charging infrastructure requires significant investment, but with low adoption rates, it’s not financially viable, creating a cycle that limits both EV adoption and infrastructure growth.
This insight led us to explore how addressing range anxiety can drive behavioral change and boost EV adoption.

However, India has enough EV infrastructure for EVs and renewable energy, contrary to popular belief. The problem, however, is that these resources are scattered.
Cultural Context and Audience Matrix
Middle-Class Preferences and Ownership Behavior
Through our interviews, we found that many middle-class Indians prefer having one car that meets all their needs, often due to economic considerations. While even those who own multiple cars often choose the ICE vehicle as their primary option as it offers more comfortable and reliable option.
Leveraging Social Proof to Influence EV Adoption
Potential EV customers are on the fence, but they could be convinced through evidence showing improved experiences from existing EV owners (primary customers). This social proof can help influence secondary customers to shift from ICE vehicles to EVs.

The Y-axis represents two audience segments: those who own more than one four-wheeler vehicle versus those who do not own any car. The center of the axis denotes individuals who rely on a single car for all their needs, typically an (ICE) vehicle.
The X-axis represents two opposite mental model of users, one who finds new changes hard and the other who look forward to changes and is eager to try out.
the problem statement
How can we address range anxiety to boost electric car adoption without depending on improvements in charging infrastructure and battery capacity?
introducing zeq.
Zeq is an AI-powered system designed to optimize long-distance travel for electric vehicles (EVs). By integrating with the vehicle’s onboard system, Zeq analyzes a comprehensive set of variables, including driver preferences, vehicle performance, charging station locations, road conditions, and environmental factors. The system dynamically calculates the most efficient routes in real-time, eliminating range anxiety for EV owners.
How Zeq Works?

Connect with your EV
Zeq will pull the required for the AI to function. such as the weather, the number of passengers, roads & traffic, air condition usage, altitude, driving behavior and more!

Let AI do the Work
Simply enter your destination and select required preferences, and let zeq find the best routes available for you accordingly. fetch route details, start the route or save for the future trip.

There's More
Find charging stations nearby and book slots manually.
Get live notifications on the go personalized for your EV.
Plan routes in advance and save for later.

One random day, we were chatting about EVs in India and thought, why not use our design skills to come up with something that actually helps boost EV adoption?

Feel free to reach out to us for more details about the concept. We’re always open to collaborating and would be thrilled to take this concept further.
Thanks :)
